Haninn is a rooster who acts as something of a narrator in the Icelandic play Glanni Glæpur í Latabæ. Despite not being included in the TV series, he is the first puppet character to appear in LazyTown.
Appearance
Haninn is a very unkempt rooster, likely to reflect his life style. He is covered in rather mangy white feathers which frequently scatter. He has very few feathers on his head bar a scruff of them at the top and his face is rather wrinkly, perhaps living up to his claim that he has lived in Latibaer for a very long time.
Personality
Hannin appears stubbornly accustomed to the lazy life style of Latibaer prior to the arrival of Íþróttaálfurinn, and as such, begins the play by referring to the town as intolerable due to the noise of the residents’ exercise routines interrupting his naps. As a result of this, he decides to remain in Latibaer when Glanni Glæpur shows up.
He is also very self centered, siding with anyone who happens to suit his own needs. For instance, he is initially disapproving of Íþróttaálfurinn for disrupting his sleep pattern, but instantly sides with him after Glanni sprays poison on him. He often believes himself to be the centre of attention, for instance thanking the town for their support and acting as mayor after Glanni (as Rikki Ríki) is voted in. Despite this, none of the other characters bar Glanni appear to be very aware of his existence.
Trivia
- In the episode Rottenbeard, a carved engraving of Haninn can be seen on the front of the pirate ship.
- Haninn is a smoker, which may explain his very rough voice.
- He was originally considered to be included as character for the television series, but was cut when the target audience shifted to a younger crowd. His proposed English name was Cock-A-Little-Do.
