Premise

Robbie dresses up as a scout master to teach the kids how to be the laziest Lazy Scouts of all time. Stephanie feels left out because no one will listen to her objections to this form of camping. In the end, a giant windstorm hits LazyTown and it is up to Stephanie and Sportacus to save the most unprepared scouts in history.

Plot synopsis

Prologue

Sunset (almost 8:08) – Sportacus’ bed time. Sportacus is in his airship doing push-ups, when he realizes that it's almost 8:08. The bed comes out of the wall and Sportacus jumps in between the duvet and the bed. He then falls asleep as the sun sets. When Sportacus’ bed deploys there is no duvet cover on it, but when Sportacus jumps into bed the duvet cover and pillow have suddenly appeared. Sportacus wears no pyjamas, only his normal outfit.

Main episode

The children have dressed up in their Scouting outfits and have packed all their gear into their backpacks to go on a hike and to camp.

Mini Save

The Mayor calls Sportacus to come and camp with Stephanie after she gives up on the other kids who are following “Scottie” the fake Scout Master.

Rotten Plan

Stephanie wakes Robbie up when she blows her trumpet to sound the call for the Scouts to form up. He vows that she will not ruin another day for him. He gets his revenge by turning all the kids against her. Robbie plans to mislead the children into laziness by changing the Scouting rules from activity to Laziness. He changes the flag, the salute, the badges, the hike and the format of the camping. Eventually Stephanie gives up on them and goes home.

Big Save

Sportacus and Stephanie have to save the children and Robbie from a Major wind storm. They all meet back together in the Mayor’s office for Cocoa.

Moral Lesson

Sportacus tells Stephanie that even though you might disagree with someone it doesn’t mean they are not your friend. Friends forgive friends.

Epilogue

Sportacus tells Robbie he should not go camping without the right equipment. Robbie responds with a “Pish-Posh!” The kids sneak up behind him and make the noise of wind and Robbie runs off in fright.

Trivia

  • Why is Sportacus’ bed time always at 8:08 pm? If it is supposed to be always at sunset, then that will change over time. The reference to 8:08 is used in other episodes (Which episodes?). [Before the show was produced, the bedtime was actually 8:06. Referring to the Sportacus origin story in [1] this post, that was the time that Mr. Kicker sent everyone to bed in the mines. The time was eventually switched to 8:08 because one of Mani Svavarsson's most beloved instruments is the TR-808.]
  • Sportacus’ clock has a big “Z” at the 8:08 point on the dial on the door of his bed (not visible in some other episodes).
  • While looking at the clock the hand visibly moves from 7 to 8 pm in a split second.
  • When the bed door turns around the clock has disappeared.
  • When the bed deploys there is no duvet cover on it, but when Sportacus jumps into bed the duvet cover and pillow have suddenly appeared.
  • We never see Sportacus in pyjamas, he seems to sleep in his normal outfit (We do see some other characters in pyjamas like Stephanie and Robbie).
  • This was the third episode produced chronologically (not counting the lost episode #101). In all three of the first produced episodes we see Sportacus brushing his teeth.
  • There appears to be some sort of Water fountain with cup dispenser to the left of Sportacus bed although we never see him using it. He prefers to use the Sports Water bottles that we see in the beginning of episodes such as “Crystal Caper”.
  • 1 August 1907 is regarded as the beginning of the Scout Movement worldwide. It was founded by Robert Baden-Powell. It is now the world's largest youth organisation. It is now coordinated globally by the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM). From its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, the WOSM provides unity amongst the 155 national Scouting organisations (representing a Scout membership of over 28 million).
  • Stephanie’s Uncle, the Mayor has never been camping before so he offers her a (1) Curling Iron (Like she ever curls her hair?), (2) a can of paint (at least it looks like pink paint!), (3) Toenail clippers (we never get to see Stephanie with bare feet in any episode). Later on he also offers (4) a vacuum cleaner and (5) a basket ball.
  • Stephanie’s climbing rope and trumpet are Orange not Pink.
  • We get to see Robbie in his pyjamas in this episode. It appears that he fell asleep eating those polystyrene packing peanuts! Yuck! And as usual he is sucking his thumb as he often does when he sleeps.
  • Stephanie blows her Orange trumpet to call the scouts to form up, but in usual LazyTown fashion she has to go and find them lazing around somewhere. There appears to be some confusion as to who is the Scout leader, which Robbie then plays to his advantage.
  • Stephanie calls the scouts “SportyScouts”.
  • Stephanie appears to have at least five or six badges on her bib already and a Scout Ribbon on her shoulder.
  • When Stephanie finds the kids, Stingy is busy telling Ziggy that his clothes are “designer”.
  • We do not get to see Robbie picking his disguise in this episode.
  • “Can’t you tell by my very real looking scout uniform?” – Robbie.
  • Robbie’s plan of Scouting consists of (1) How to make Excuses, (2) How to sleep late.
  • Stephanie quotes the famous do-gooder action of helping little old ladies across the street.
  • When Robbie goes to help Bessie across the street 5 times there is the background noise of a busy road with trucks revving and tyres screeching. But we have never seen any of these vehicles in LazyTown!
  • Robbie’s badges all appear to consist of things he likes doing. One of them is a cupcake. A few scenes later Ziggy is wearing the cupcake and sucker badge. Wonder how he got those?
  • When Robbie changes the name of the Scouts to “Lazy Scouts” and the other kids start chanting the name “Lazy Scouts” Stephanie gets a really upset look on her face and if you look carefully you can actually see her lip quiver. In fact, she actually gives a double face palm twice in this episode and a full on hands on head shaking.
  • Robbie uses his boxer underwear for the new Scout flag, it has red hearts on it.
  • Robbie offers the kids a badge for “ignoring the girl with the pink hair and the bad attitude”.
  • Trixie bribes Ziggy to stay with a sucker.
  • The Mayor uses the clear mail tube again in this episode (same as in “Defeeted”). These episodes were made before “Welcome to LazyTown” in which we first see the blue and red tube and it is introduced as a way to contact the SuperHero.
  • When Sportacus gets the tube mail from the Mayor, he grabs an ice pick, a climbing helmet and his rucksack. Not sure what he needs the ice pick or the helmet for? When he gets to the Mayor’s house, there is a lot more equipment on his rucksack.
  • This episode generated a fair amount of controversy online when parents saw that the grown man was going on a camping trip alone with the young girl, but it must be said that the Mayor completely trusts Sportacus and that they probably never intended to stay out overnight anyway. This is a little kids show and such matters most likely never enter the minds of little children. It is also true though that Stephanie displays a slightly more than usual affection for Sportacus in this episode.
  • Robbie gives Ziggy a badge when he completely fails to put the tent up properly (not that Stephanie’s tent looks much better).
  • There are a few scenes of contrast here: Stephanie and Sportacus putting up the tent together versus Robbie watching Ziggy fail, Robbie trying to carry one rock versus Sportacus carrying a dozen rocks in one go, Sportacus and Stephanie making a fire versus Robbie watching Trixie carry the wood and then overloading her so that she falls.
  • After giving Stephanie the moral lesson about I being ok to disagree with friends, he says that he, for instance, likes jumping in mud puddles!
  • Trixie has a scout badge made from an old apple core.
  • When Ziggy says that maybe Stephanie was right after all, Trixie says to him “You don’t wanna play Fairy games, do you?”
  • Ziggy’s lollipop blows away in the wind storm, later we will see it again stuck to the back of Bessie in the Mayor’s Office.
  • Stephanie’s hat also blows away, and Sportacus will find it later while saving Pixel.
  • Sportacus abandons Stephanie’s orange tent and heads for the town hall.
  • Bessie’s hair looks like Medusa when she comes in from the wind storm. She has Ziggy’s sucker stuck to her back.
  • When Pixel gets inside the town hall, he hands his “power blaster” to Stephanie and she just takes one look at it, shrugs and chucks it in a corner.
  • Other things that are blown away by the storm: Stingy’s car, Stingy’s Tent, Ziggy and the Underpants Lazy Scout Flag, Robbie’s orange blanket and Robbie’s fake mustache.
  • Sportacus and Stephanie use Robbie’s blanket to catch Ziggy.
  • One of the pillars of the retractable podium nearly falls on Stephanie. Trixie saves her.
  • The Scout theme appears again in the Season 3 episode "Scavenger Hunt".
  • This episode is the only episode to feature bad weather in LazyTown
