Premise

When the panicked Mayor asks for the kids' help to bake a cake for Bessie’s birthday, things seem to go swimmingly until the cake turns up missing, and all the evidence — supplied by the detective Hintslock Holmes (Robbie in disguise) — points to Sportacus! He is tried and placed in jail, while Ziggy and the gang must solve the riddle of the swiped sweets.

Plot synopsis

Prologue

Birthday Dilemma

Milford despairs because it's Bessie's birthday, and there's still no gift for her. Stephanie and Ziggy, Stingy, and Pixel run into the kitchen. The mayor asks them for silence and then shares his problem with his niece. This reminds him of last year's birthday of his love, but also decides to help him. She opens a book that she received from her, in which she wrote down her dream gifts. Milford rejects some of them; however, he eventually manages to find one that is within the range of the possibility – a big cake. Milford, however, does not want to take it up. Stephanie offers him his help.

Cake Baking Chaos

Stephanie and the boys are taking to baking the cake. They manage to prepare the base cake and are about to start decorating. But then things get complicated. Ziggy brought a whole bag of sweetness, while Pixel wants to start decorating the cake with whipped cream. Stingy, however, appropriates his device to apply it, and Ziggy accidentally pushes it. There's a battle for food when Milford enters the house. It is doused with whipped cream, which the children do not even notice. The whole situation alarms Sportacus, who takes two ping-pong pallets with him and heads towards the town.

Sportacus enters the mayor's house and immediately spots whipped cream on the door. He avoids flying pieces of cake and finds it tucked away under Milford's counter. This one explains the situation to him and asks for help. Sportacus jumps on the counter, where he is spotted. For a moment, he defends himself against the sweets thrown towards him, but when the whipped cream lands on his face, he resigns from the defence and firmly orders the kids to stop. They apologise to him, and Ziggy boasts about the cake. However, it turns out to be ruined and far from the desired effect.

Milford is sad, and Sportacus encourages children to try again, but this time in order. He returns to the airship, and Stephanie and the boys start baking another cake. This time they succeed.

Robbie’s Scheme

The smell of baking reaches Robbie Rotten's hideout. He wakes up and looks for the source of a pleasant smell. He sees a cake for Bessie in the mayor's kitchen. Initially, he thinks to bake his own cake but ultimately recognises that the stolen does not fatten and decides to pick up the previously noticed baking. He also decides to link this to his plan to get rid of Sportacus. From the machine with disguises from among the available, he chooses the detective's costume.

During this time, Robbie takes advantage of the opportunity and sneaks into the house and takes the cake, leaving the box itself. Milford's nervous about the upcoming meeting, and Ziggy's looking for Bessie. Robbie, on the other hand, prepares evidence of Sportacus' guilt.

Sportacus Framed

Sportacus jumps off the airship, and his hand lands directly on a frosting spread on a ladder. When he stands with his hand dirty, Robbie comes to him with his children and Milford. Based on the frosting on his hands, he manages his arrest, and Ziggy confirms that it is indeed frosting. Robbie unfolds the stage, and the Sportacus trial begins. Robbie asks the suspect if anyone saw him steal cakes. Despite the absurdity of the situation, Robbie announces that there are no more questions about the suspect's confession. Then, by trick, he makes the mayor find Sportacus guilty. Everyone is surprised and saddened. Sportacus has to go to jail.

After a few failed attempts, Robbie leads Sportacus to his place of time. He unfolds the portable cage and introduces it to it. However, he forgot to close it, which Sportacus himself draws his attention to. Annoyed, he closes the cage on the padlock and walks away.

Investigation and Capture

Some time later, everyone is gathered in the kitchen, where the children bake another cake. Milford despairs over the day's events so far. Ziggy's trying to say something, but he's got his mouth full. He's trying to convey that if Sportacus stole and ate the cake, he'd have a sugar drop now. Everyone, however, sees Sportacus behaving normally. The children decide to do their own investigation.

Everyone's looking for traces. Pixel finds footprints, Stephanie's flicker on the ladder, and a piece of cake, and Ziggy's got a lot of lollipops. A trace of them leads him to the hammock that Robbie sleeps on. Drilling at him, Robbie finally drops his hat full of lollipops. He's going to share the find with the others. Everyone decides to get the key to the goal with Sportacus and release it. The Pixel controls Stingy's car remotely and pulls it up under a tree where the key hangs. Ziggy tries to reach the key. Everyone is disappointed with the situation, and in addition, Ziggy pulls out a lollipop and uses it to get the key.

Ziggy lets Sportacus out of his cell. Everyone is happy, while Sportacus is jumping over Robbie and setting up a plan of action with Ziggy. Everyone goes to the mayor's house, where they're preparing another baking. He's supposed to be the bait for a real cake thief, Robbie. Ziggy puts the dough in a cage, then, along with others, observes the situation from behind the wall. Robbie wakes up to the smell of new baking, and following the trail from the cookies, he goes straight into the cage. He is also recognised and exposed. When they take the main cake, the cell door closes.

Robbie is confronted and tries to displace everything, but he is betrayed by the frosting on his face. Trying to get rid of him, he splashes it on Bessie, who just came. Sportacus is handing Milford a cake for Bessie, while Robbie resigns with a cage. Milford gives a cake to Bessie, who initially rejects it but only jokes. Stephanie sings Bing Bang, after which Sportacus walks away to the airship and flies away in it.
