Stefán Karl Stefánsson

Stefán Karl Stefánsson was born on July 10th, 1975, in the city of Hafnarfjörður. He had dark brown hair, blue eyes, and was about 6'4". When Stefán was 12 years old, he was cast a minor a role in Robin Hood. Years later, he graduated from the Icelandic Academy of The Arts, and became a big name in his native Iceland when he signed up with the National Theater in Iceland. Stefán had been well-known for his comedic roles, such as the all singing and dancing gay sheep farmer in Stella for Office, and skits he created for the New Year's Eve Comedy Hour Variety Show. Later, Stefán was cast as Glanni Glæpur in Glanni Glæpur í Latabæ. Fives years later, Stefán was cast as Robbie Rotten on LazyTown, which became very popular. Besides LazyTown, Stefán had lent his voice for the role of a Viking warrior in Night At The Museum starring Ben Stiller and Robin Williams.

Besides acting, Stefán had become well-known for his work with Rainbow Children, his organization which works with victims of bullying. Stefán was also a musician, and was for a time a member of the popular Icelandic band, Studmenn. Stefán was also trained in stand up comedy, and had performed in many Icelandic comedy clubs. In 2005, Stefán married actress and former talkshow host Steinunn Ólína Þorsteinsdóttir, and was the father of four children. For a time, Stefán and his wife lived in Los Angeles, and more recently, San Diego. Unlike most stars, Stefán has connected with LazyTown fans from time to time, and was even available for a telephone interview with a fan. He has also visited the LazyTown fan community on LiveJournal.

Stefán gained international recognition when he was given the part of the Grinch in the Stage Production of Dr. Seuss's famous children's Christmas book.

In 2016, Stefán developed pancreatic cancer. He had created a Q and A page on Reddit, and a Gofundme page. Stefán peacefully passed away on the morning of August 21st, 2018 at the age of 43.
