As of 2008, New Medium Enterprises (the manufacturers of VMDs) only had limited distribution rights to LazyTown, and made these releases only available in the UK, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Later that year the production of HD VMD players and disks stopped.

==Further releases==
A press release dated October 31, 2007, revealed that ''"New Medium Enterprises Inc (NME) (OTC Bulletin Board: NMEN - News) can reveal that 53 episodes of the BAFTA-winning series LazyTown will be released on its HD VMD format."'' NME had every episode of the first season listed individually within the main category of their store's site, as well as the ''Content Library'' section of their catalogue page on their main site. Their site went down in 2008.
